Let's unite against cyberdanger and protect our community
I'd like to bring attention to an ongoing and troubling issue that has affected many, including one of our colleagues—an incident I personally experienced. It's crucial to increase awareness about this matter, given its lasting impact and potential harm. Let me share the story:

It started with a coworker receiving an email that seemed to be from our CEO, Rajesh Jain. While the email address had small differences, it looked quite similar to the real one. The email conveyed urgency, explaining that our CEO was in meetings and needed help promptly. Since it was lunchtime, our colleague replied, thinking it was a genuine request and offering assistance.

Shortly after, another email arrived, supposedly from the CEO, stating he was still in a meeting and couldn't use phones or messaging apps. The email requested an urgent transfer sum of 55,000+, promising reimbursement in 1-2 days. Without further verification due to the CEO's unavailability, our colleague, concerned for our CEO, initiated the transaction and sent a payment screenshot.

When the CEO returned, confusion arose as he knew nothing about the transaction. A closer look revealed the harsh reality: Our colleague fell for a well-planned scam, resulting in significant financial loss. Despite quick actions involving the bank and authorities, the scammer had withdrawn the funds, leaving us helpless.

For us in the IT industry, encountering such clever fraud is disheartening. I urge the community to come together and spread awareness about this threat. Your support is invaluable. I also encourage those with similar experiences to reach out, helping us learn from one another.

Furthermore, I kindly ask for advice from all community members, especially those in leadership, on how to prevent such scams. Building our collective knowledge will create a safer space for everyone.

Your time and consideration are appreciated. Let's unite against this danger and protect our community.
